I just want dinner!

I have had enough of the Feasts and the Famines!

Feasting really isn't all it is cracked up to be. You may have quite the selection but it does no good if you don't want what is being served.

Famines aren't that great either. Obviously. I've been in a famine the past few months. It has been ok. I don't really need anything to eat at the moment. I have a different meal that I'm focusing on.

But despite my "different meal", I just want a nice Sunday dinner. Just one. One that fits. It may not be perfect but it will be desirable to me. Someday. In the meantime, I'm learning.

Put Your Trust in God

It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is.
It all works out. Don’t worry.
I say that to myself every morning.
It will all work out.
Put your trust in God,
and move forward with faith
and confidence in the future.
The Lord will not forsake us.
He will not forsake us.
If we will put our trust in Him,
if we will pray to Him,
if we will live worthy of His blessings,
He will hear our prayers.

4 for 4

4th day in a row I've made something new to eat.

Tonight I made sirloin steak bbq stir-fry. Super yummy!!! I am also amazed and how I can have such a great meal for such a cheap price. Love it. I was going to take a picture of it but in the moment I was so eager to taste my savory meal that I completely forgot until it was almost gone. I have a bunch of left overs but they never look as good as the first meal.

Going Strong

Today was is Wednesday. Third day of school. Third day back in Provo. Third day in a row that I have made something edible from a new recipe. I am shocked at how much pleasure it brings. Tonight I'm making bread (with a bread machine, but still). I hope it turns out ok. I'm trying to figure out what to make tomorrow. :D

Homemade what?!

A goal I have this year, like I do every year, is to make real meals more often (like at least once or twice a week). It is hard to do when it is just for me. Left-overs last forever. Yummy but still.

Yesterday I was having a bad afternoon. I think I was stressed. Like really stressed. I was not pleased with the world. I went shopping for food and was still in a sour mood. When I got home I cleaned up the kitchen and tried various things to cheer me up. I finally decided I was hungry and therefore made a real meal with the things I purchased from the store. I was so surprised how cooking a real meal and eating such totally changed my mood. The rest of my night was so much better.

I wonder if it was just the confidence that came from completing a task or if it was just eating something I made. I'm not sure but I am more excited about cooking :)

I also made homemade hot chocolate tonight. Lets just say that homemade and store purchased hot chocolate taste completely different. It was a good experience but I learned I like the store stuff much much better. What can I say, I love the sweet stuff.

Movies and TV Shows

In the midst of prepping to move, I have found time to watch a few things. I really like shows that inspire me to do something. I love movies that make me ponder life. I also love to just be entertained. Here are a few things I've watched the past few weeks.

Avatar
I was at first very wary about this movie. Another Sci-fi movie... right. Wrong. Loved it. The technology used to make this movie is incredible!!! Plot line... not the best. Kind of like a future Pocahontas. The technology made me wonder what people who died in the 50s, 60s and even 70s would think about it. I bet they would be blown out of their seats. Everything looks so real. Even compared to Star Wars... wow.
Julie and Julia
First time I've seen it. Not gonna lie... made me want to learn how to cook. A piece of my resolution for the 2010 is to cook every once and a while.
Invictus
What a well made movie! I really liked this movie. It brought forth many questions about the history of this nation., the things that Mandela did for his nation and what was life like after this time period. I also want to know how rugby works. I wanna go to a rugby game in England.
The Holiday
Last movie of 2009. Super cute.
She's the Man
My first movie of the New Year was She's the Man. Love it. Love Amanda Bynes' facial expression. Love the many, many attractive men. Love the super awkward moments.
Chuck
Love, love, love Chuck. I can't wait for Season 3. I got my whole family hooked and we watched all of season 1 and 2 in a week and a half.

New Year's Eve

It is 2010!

Ten years ago...
I was 12.
I lived in England.
We were babysitting a King Charles Cavalier puppy.
I loved wearing overalls.
In 2010 I wanted to be close to graduating college, teaching and horse back riding.
My favorite books included Harry Potter.
I thought wearing pants under skirts were hideous (still do actually).
I loved ice cream and ate it every night before I went to bed.
I was very pleased with who I was.

We made a time capsule ten years ago and opened it last night.
What a brilliant time we had!
Erin found the prince she is going to meet ;)
Some of the stuff in the box...
The packet I made in school.
Erin and her crown.
After looking at the past we decided to celebrate the future.

My Christmas Break

It has been a very different break for me. We are packing up my house. Deciding what goes to England and what goes to storage. It is like cleaning check times a lot. I feel like cleaning checks have been going on for the past three weeks. Movers come on Monday.
House will be empty in a week. Dad leaves the country on Wednesday the 13th. Girls are moving to Grandma's. Needless to say, not a normal break.

We took Christmas off. We also left town for a few days and went to Ponderosa State Park with our cousins. We stayed at a cabin just feet from the lake.
We went into town and checked out the lake. It was nice and frozen. We were careful and didn't step out on the lake but the docks were pretty fun.
Kelli and I went cross-country skiing while Dad went snowshoeing. Super fun and made us quite warm.
Things have been hard but it has been wonderful to spend time with my family. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful family.
