Pondering Illness

Here I am, up before the butt-crack of dawn. I was planning on going to class. That isn't going to happen. I figure I should probably take another day to recover from whatever it is that I have. That and I am not a super huge fan of my 8 am class and honestly wouldn't get much from it. I did wake up at 5 from another nose bleed. I wonder if it was because I was really warm under my covers. I'm not sure. I don't have a fever. Oh well. Here I am. I have been watching people slowly get online. Half of me wanted someone to be up early so I could talk to someone the other half is wondering why anyone would get up and get on Facebook so early. Anyway.

Back when I just had a cough, I was walking around SLC and counting my blessings. Specifically in regards to being ill. The thoughts went as follows:
  • I have a warm place to go when I'm sick and don't have to try to get better while freezing.
  • There is little chance of me dying from being ill. Yepee!
  • There are drugs and remedies that actually work and help you get better.
  • I can always call my mom - the pioneers couldn't.
  • Food is easy to come by which is very good when sick.
Anyway. Thank goodness for technology and medical innovations. I'm off to go watch a movie or something.

My Conference Weekend

Usually General Conference weekend is a blast, right? Well mine has been something like that.

My family came to town which is always wonderful and we had tickets to the Saturday Afternoon Session.

Friday I was feeling a little ill and so my mom drove down to Provo with me to get my stuff. I had planned to go with a group to the Haunted Forest but bailed because I wasn't feeling good. Saturday, we got up early and went to Temple Square to listen to the morning session. While we were walking around some nice man gave us morning session tickets - FRONT ROW!!! Door 8 Plaza 6!!! We were like 30 rows back. Just us girls went and it was wonderful! After that session we met up with Dad and the cousins and went back to their house (we gave away our tickets).

I pretty much slept through the next session and woke up 2 hours after it was over and ask "when did conference end?!"

So I've got a low grade fever, dry cough and headaches. I woke up this morning feeling very rested and almost better. Though I was feeling a bit warm. I got my breakfast all dished up and then my nose began to bleed. Now my nose is pretty sensitive to everything and a nose bleed is not uncommon for me. However, this one was the bleeder of all bleeders. It wouldn't stop. I swear I was in the bathroom with a cold compress and a tissue around my nose for about a half an hour.

The rest of the day I've just been sleeping. I am sure conference was good and I really enjoyed Saturday Morning.

PS I blame the Testing Center and the sick people in there.

Blessings... Name them one by one....

The past week or so I have spent a lot of time pondering my life and the blessings I have. In this pondering time I have come to realize how rare I am. I don't mean this in a prideful way or anything. I am just amazed.

Several of the blessings that I have come from sources I don't have any control over. While others come from my obedience and morality. Alright so lets list a few of them.

I have never done any type of drug - ever.

I have never tasted alcohol of any kind - ever.

I have never broken the law of chastity - ever.

I have always paid my tithing.

My parents are still happily married.

My grandparents on both sides had been happily married for many many years.

My sisters are both strong in the church.

I am truly blessed.

A Long Time Coming

Lesson Learned: Stay on top of things. It is much easier to take little steps daily to get to the top rather than one HUGE step to get up the whole freaking mountain.

How Lesson was Learned: I have found with my tons of reading for my various classes that if I do a little everyday of what is required, it is so much easier to get the homework done. I stay focused while I read and I actually enjoy doing the reading. Rather than postponing the reading for a later time when I have hundreds of pages to read at once.

Resolution: Write in journal/post blogs more often so it doesn't seem so overwhelming to post everything all at once.

Impressions From First Week of School

I must admit I was dreading coming back to school. I even had a terrible dream of sleeping through the first day of class. However, to my surprise and gratitude I found in that first class that first morning I loved being back. I loved the thrill of learning new things. My classes went well. I ran into someone I knew after or before every class which was great.

On Tuesday, I had my freshman level class of Psychology. It has been a while since I've been in a freshman class and all the busy work that comes with it. The things the school does to keep freshman busy and outta trouble. I'm still excited about the class though.

It is also interesting how when someone is in a relationship they don't talk to anyone else. Even nice people sitting next to them. What is going on with our world?

Work is stressful because I am in charge of hiring new TAs. It is going well but I am really quite nervous about hiring the right person.

Do You Really Understand?

For the past week or so I have had some news that I should be dying to share with everyone. However, I am surprised to discover that I don't really want to tell it. I have been wondering why. Why have I wanted to keep this information private? Why don't I want to share this?
After much thought I think I have found the reason. I don't think people would understand the depth of this news that I have. First off, it is great! Something fantastic!!! And yet it is super stressful and scary. Something that most people don't understand. Maybe they do. Maybe they just don't show that they understand. I don't know. I just don't want to share something that most people just wouldn't understand. Anyway - I will continue to ponder this subject. Just had to get my thoughts out there.
