Ward Conference Review

BYU 179th Ward had Ward Conference this past Sunday. The messages that were presented were fantastic! I wanted to share a bit of what I learned and re-learned.

The theme was 2 Nephi 31:20 "Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."

I would also feel safe in saying that another theme in ward conference was "hope".

We need to look forward to the future and having a family. We should be preparing for marriage and raising a family. As a single individual I should be shopping for a young man that will take me to the temple. I have a right and deserve this.

We need to stay in the boat of life. Here on earth we are very far from the shore. If we were to just jump out of the boat it would be so difficult to find the shore. We have no direction and it is so hard to do alone. However, if we stay in the boat we will return to our Father in Heaven because we have a captain who knows the way. To stay in the boat we need to read the scriptures and pray everyday, attend our 3 blocks of church every week and let the spirit testify to us.

Life isn't about winning, it is about finishing. We need to be steady in our race. Are we helping those who are also running the race of life?

Where are our holy places? It can be anywhere you are. YOU control your surroundings. Be in control. Be aware of media influences. Be aware of your standards and STICK to them!

Life is fun. Take time to sing "Happy Birthday to Mickey Mouse"

"The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."

Be steadfast and put on the whole armor of God. Put on your "game face" everyday.

Persevere. There was once a man who owned a horse. One day that horse fell into a well and couldn't get out. The man decided that neither the well or the horse was worth saving so he called his friends and told them to bury the horse and well in dirt. As the dirt was shoveled on the horse, the horse discovered that if he would just shake of the dirt and step up on it he would rise a little out of the well every time. The dirt kept coming and he kept stepping up. Those things that are meant to bury us can actually help us. How do you handle the dirt?

How we handle our situation will determine our Eternal Life.

"Inch by inch, life is a sinch. Yard by yard, life is hard."

Be steady and consistent. We don't need to be ready all at once. It is the small steady and consistent drops of oil done daily.

Hope = Gusto! Hope = trust and reliance

Love yourself - it is a commandment. Love yourself by loving and serving God, Staying happy and positive, being realistic in expectations of yourself, being patient with yourself "there has never been anyone like you and never will be".

Bring the temple with you. Instead of you "going through the temple" the "temple should go through you". Instead of "taking out your endowment" you should "receive your endowment".

The temple should feel like "going home".
