I just need to vent about this. So in my history class we have to turn in these one paragraphy essays to indicate that we actually did the reading. First off, load of crap! What happened to being responsible college students that abide the Honor Code. If we didn't do the reading that is our loss. We don't need to have a little paragraph to indicate.
Anyway - I get frustrated with busy work and having to waste paper for a single paragraph when it is just as easy if not more efficient to email that in (if we have to do it). And today to top it off the printers on campus don't work. Apparently that is not my TAs problem. HELLO!!! This is the only printer many of us use! It isn't our fault so don't dock us off! We can't even email it to him!!! Gruff!!!

Just a Little Girl
She's always tryin' to be
some independent girl who is never in need...
...because she's just a little girl - time isn't holding her down
she's just a little girl - she never needed a crown
she just wants somebody around
who won't laugh when she laughs too loud
she just wants somebody to see
she's just a little girl

3 Discoveries and No Bed
Halloween weekend. Destination: Home. Perfect choice!
Discoveries:
- I love Idaho sunsets. I don't think I'll ever get over it! <3
- One of my top 2 of the 5 Love Languages is physical touch. I forget how important touching is to me until I go home and I realize that touching is what is missing. Something as simple as leaning on someone or touching someone's leg does so much. Weird - possibly.
- I have always disliked shopping. No more. Something has changed and I enjoy shopping for cute clothes for myself :D
No bed: That is right. My bed at home is no longer there. It was weird. "My room" is gone. My books are all that remain... and not for long. All of our household goods (aka furniture, dishes, clothes - EVERYTHING) will be leaving for England/storage the beginning of January. This is A LOT sooner than I had planned. It will work out. It just changes things.

Ward Conference Review
BYU 179th Ward had Ward Conference this past Sunday. The messages that were presented were fantastic! I wanted to share a bit of what I learned and re-learned.
The theme was 2 Nephi 31:20 "Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."
I would also feel safe in saying that another theme in ward conference was "hope".
We need to look forward to the future and having a family. We should be preparing for marriage and raising a family. As a single individual I should be shopping for a young man that will take me to the temple. I have a right and deserve this.
We need to stay in the boat of life. Here on earth we are very far from the shore. If we were to just jump out of the boat it would be so difficult to find the shore. We have no direction and it is so hard to do alone. However, if we stay in the boat we will return to our Father in Heaven because we have a captain who knows the way. To stay in the boat we need to read the scriptures and pray everyday, attend our 3 blocks of church every week and let the spirit testify to us.
Life isn't about winning, it is about finishing. We need to be steady in our race. Are we helping those who are also running the race of life?
Where are our holy places? It can be anywhere you are. YOU control your surroundings. Be in control. Be aware of media influences. Be aware of your standards and STICK to them!
Life is fun. Take time to sing "Happy Birthday to Mickey Mouse"
"The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."
Be steadfast and put on the whole armor of God. Put on your "game face" everyday.
Persevere. There was once a man who owned a horse. One day that horse fell into a well and couldn't get out. The man decided that neither the well or the horse was worth saving so he called his friends and told them to bury the horse and well in dirt. As the dirt was shoveled on the horse, the horse discovered that if he would just shake of the dirt and step up on it he would rise a little out of the well every time. The dirt kept coming and he kept stepping up. Those things that are meant to bury us can actually help us. How do you handle the dirt?
How we handle our situation will determine our Eternal Life.
"Inch by inch, life is a sinch. Yard by yard, life is hard."
Be steady and consistent. We don't need to be ready all at once. It is the small steady and consistent drops of oil done daily.
Hope = Gusto! Hope = trust and reliance
Love yourself - it is a commandment. Love yourself by loving and serving God, Staying happy and positive, being realistic in expectations of yourself, being patient with yourself "there has never been anyone like you and never will be".
Bring the temple with you. Instead of you "going through the temple" the "temple should go through you". Instead of "taking out your endowment" you should "receive your endowment".
The temple should feel like "going home".
MAKE LIFE HAPPEN!

Beautiful Morning
As I was walking to campus at 7:30 this morning I found so many beautiful things.
The grass, sidewalk and streets were freshly cleaned from an overnight rain. The trees overhead that are showing signs of yellow, red and orange are also fringed with the excess rain. As I walked up Maeser Stairs the clouds over "Y" Mountain began to show colors of pink and purple as the sun rose behind the mountain. As I looked to the north, my gaze found Timpanogos capped with fresh snow. As I continued my trek to class I found fog covering bits and pieces of Provo.
I couldn't stop smiling as I saw the many beautiful things this morning.

I'm not that kind of girl
Lately I have been pondering my life: who I am and who I want to be.
With this has come the question of the dating side of my life. I have thought about what I do and how I do it in reference to boys and dating. This is what I have come up with:
- I'm NOT the girl that will make cookies and drop them off at a guys' apartment hoping to persuade him to ask me out. I just don't like it.
- I'm NOT the girl that will run up to the guy I like with all of his other "fan club" girls. I'll stand in the background and hope I get noticed (and/or use other means to get noticed).
- I'm NOT the girl who will act dumb and think that the guy will like it.
- I AM the girl that gets super nervous around a guy I am interested in. (And will often flirt less with him than with other guys). I'm trying to get over this. :)
Anywho. This is still a work in progress but this is where I stand at the moment.

Pet Peeves
16.) Being de-friended on Facebook from a guy you used to date.
I still care about them and want to see how they are doing. This is the 3rd one in the past 2 months. Oh well. They weren't worth it anyway.
Story: I was sitting in my Temples class and a girl was sitting in a seat that wasn't hers (yes we have assigned seats) because hers was broken. Which is fine. Not a big deal. My professor suggested another open seat that she could sit in so the guy who was supposed to sit there could. My professor phrased the option like this, "would you like this open seat next to these fine gentlemen?" Guess what she did! She pulled up her hand and showed him her ring. Just because she is married doesn't mean that guys can't be nice. Marriage doesn't mean that you can't sit next to another man - heaven forbid. Marriage doesn't mean you can't be friends with men. They are HALF of the world's population. Oh it just rubbed me the wrong way.
